Carrie Janes - Nutritional Therapy Practitioner

Carrie was born and raised in Perrysburg, Ohio and has lived in Boulder, Colorado and now Eugene, Oregon. She has had an interest in nutrition since college, and graduated from Bowling Green State University with a Bachelors Degree in Health Care Administration. Carrie received her most recent training in Eugene, Oregon from the Nutritional Therapy Association, based in Olympia, Washington. Major influences on Carrie's approach to nutrition include nutritional pioneers, Drs. Weston A. Price and Francis Pottenger as well as modern day nutrition experts, Sally Fallon and Nora Gedgaudas. All of these individuals recognize the influence that our modern day (not so healthy) diet and lifestyle have had on the increased incidences of disease.

Carrie believes nutrition is the key to good health, peak energy and vitality and when given the proper nutrients and information, our bodies can and will heal. Through individualized dietary and lifestyle changes, clients are able to take responsibility for their own health and wellness. Nutritional Therapy can provide a sustainable and informed path to long-term wellness for anyone who makes the choice.

Carrie is a member of the Nutritional Therapy Association and the Weston A. Price Foundation. In addition to her Nutritional Therapy practice, Carrie is a weekly volunteer at her children's school, the Village School. She also enjoys reading, knitting, gardening as well as hiking and camping with her husband and their three children.

Nutritional Therapy Practitioners are guided by:

  • A profound respect for the teachings of the nutritional pioneers Dr. Weston A. Price and Dr. Francis A. Pottenger, who extensively researched nutrition, food and its effects on modern society.
  • A commitment to the concept of biochemical individuality, that is, our genetic and geographical makeup can determine our unique nutritional needs.
  • The belief that within each of us resides an "innate intelligence" which guides us and seeks to heal.
