Useful tips for protecting the Spleen/Stomach:
· Get plenty of good sleep (6 to 8 hours per night for most people) and keep
regular hours.
· Eat until the stomach is 2/3 full and then stop.
· Do not eat when emotionally distressed.
· Avoid ice in drinks. Ice shuts down digestive enzymes.
· Avoid late night studying.
· Eat at regular hours.
· Eat a big breakfast, a medium size lunch and make dinner the smallest meal
to maximize your digestive health. The last meal should be eaten 3 hours before
retiring for bed.
· Eat good quality foods, avoiding processed and fast foods.
· Eat sitting down, not behind the wheel or on the run. Slow down and enjoy
your meals. Be mindful of how the food tastes.
· Chew your food thoroughly: Salivary amylase in your saliva is an important
part of the digestive process, converting starch into sugars. Chewing your food
properly is one way to ensure that your food will be properly digested.
